The actions we lead for and with you:

SECIMAVI is active on several topics impacting the consumer electronics industry

Institutional relations

Photo
SECIMAVI has close relations with several Ministries (Economy, Industry and Digital Technologies, Culture and Communication and Ecology), their Directorates-General (DGE, DGMIC) and with regulatory bodies such as CSA, ANFR and ARCEP . Thanks to its affiliation to FICIME, SECIMAVI is directly involved in the work of several committees and ministerial and governmental bodies.

Technology

Photo
As a member of HD Forum, SECIMAVI participates actively in the follow-up of standardisation and normalisation activities undertaken by this body. SECIMAVI participates in several HD Forum working groups: Interactivity, UltraHD and Spectrum allocation.
SECIMAVI is also an active member of several CSA (French Broadcast Regulator) working groups: WG Accessibility, WG International Spectrum, WG Transmission and Reception of Broadcasting Signals, WG Digital Radio, WG Sound Intensity.

Private Copying Levies

Photo
SECIMAVI is a member of the  Industry Committee within the French Private Copying Commission. This administrative Commission determines the fees applicable to numerous A/V storage media for the compensation of private copying rights to the benefit of rightholders. Today SECIMAVI, together with the other members of the Industry Committee and in collaboration with some influent consumer associations, pleads for a greater transparency in the levies' calculation.

Digital Terrestrial Television - DTT

Photo
SECIMAVI collaborates closely with the National Agency of Frequencies (ANFR) to accompany the transition of DTT in France to High Definition on all terrestrial TV channels, which will take place on April 5, 2016. This transformation implies that consumers will have to be equipped with HD-compatible products using the MPEG-4 standard. Following the modernization of DTT, the reallocation of the 700 MHz band to the mobile operators until July 1st, 2019 will be another key subject for our members. SECIMAVI's manufacturers and importers play an essential role for the success of these operations in France.

Environment

Photo
SECIMAVI participates, alongside the FICIME, in working groups and committees of the Ministry of Ecology and of the regulatory bodies ADEME and AFNOR, like for instance: eco-design of products, energy labeling, reuse, reparability and end-of-life of products, modulation of eco-fees, lifecycle of electric and electronic equipment, environmental labels.

Digital Terrestrial Radio - DTR

Photo
SECIMAVI undertakes intense lobbying activities for the rapid start-up of Digital Radio in France using the DAB+ standard as a replacement to the T-DMB standard initially adopted in the country. SECIMAVI actively pleads for the lifting of the legislative obligations imposing to the manufacturers to have 100% of their audio products in digital, despite the fact that the audience market share of digital broadcasters only represents 1% of the national radio audience and that no timetable is planned, yet, for the nationwide deployment of Digital Radio.

SECIMAVI organizes with and for its members several commissions and meetings :

The Car Electronics and Entertainment Club

The Car Electronics and Entertainment Club ( C2E) includes most of the car audio and accessories manufacturers of the French market. SECIMAVI members represent 85 % of the French car audio aftermarket share, both in volume and in value. Every quarter the C2E issues detailed statistics on sales of car electronics in specialized aftermarket distribution networks. Members meet to discuss the future trends of car audio technologies and innovation.

The Technical Commission

The Technical Commission is held every two months and gathers senior engineering and marketing managers for a tour de table on technical and technological evolutions and the main marketing and innovation topics in consumer electronics.

The After-Sales Service Commission

The After-Sales Service Commission, held every four months, gathers the ASS Directors of member companies for a tour de table on the evolutions of the profession, notably the convergence between brown goods, IT and telephony and the consequent evolution of after-sales competences that this tendency engenders.
